Children Education

-->

We work to ensure that children in the remote mountain communities of Mahakulung, home to many Everest tourism porters and located on the southern slopes of Mount Everest, can stay in school and access the educational resources they need to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

School dropout is a serious challenge for children in Mahakulung, particularly those affected by poverty. Some children leave school at an early age to work in the Everest tourism industry or take up domestic work to support their families, and many do not return to school classrooms. We work to prevent school dropout by helping those children stay in school through scholarships, educational support, family assistance, awareness programs, and collaboration with schools and local communities.

We support vulnerable children and public schools through scholarships, school uniforms, warm clothing, shoes, books, stationery, school bags, learning materials, science and technology resources, and other essential educational support. We also support schools and communities to strengthen learning environments through classroom resources, hygiene and sports supplies, teacher support, and school improvement initiatives.

Over the years, our education programmes have supported more than 20 schools and nearly 8,000 students and their families. By reducing practical and financial barriers to education, we help children remain in school, build confidence, develop their abilities, and create better opportunities for their future.
